Methodology
How this tool decides what EUDR Due Diligence Statement applies, the deadline and the TRACES NT path.
What this tool checks
- Scope — does Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 apply to your operation, commodity, HS code and EU placement country?
- Deadline — large/medium operators submit by 30 December 2026; micro/small by 30 June 2027 (Implementing Regulation 2025 delay act).
- Country risk class — low / standard / high per the EU Commission 2026 Country Benchmarking; default standard under Art. 29.
- Submission path — simplified DDS, full DDS, collect-and-resubmit reference, or retain-reference-only depending on operator role and country risk.
- Penalty ceiling — Art. 25(2) floor of 4% of in-scope EU turnover.
- Record retention — Art. 5(3) requires five years from the placement date.
What this tool does NOT do
- It does not file a DDS in TRACES NT on your behalf.
- It does not validate geolocation polygons or upstream supply-chain evidence.
- It does not certify legal compliance and is not legal advice.
- It does not cover UK domestic regulation; UK-only placement is flagged out-of-scope.
Authority chain
- Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 — Deforestation Regulation, consolidated text.
- Annex I — Combined Nomenclature codes for cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya, wood and derived products.
- Annex II — Information required in a Due Diligence Statement.
